HAN gets new executive committee
of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) held on 28 March elected 21-member executive committee under the leadership of BK Shrestha for the tenure of next two years. Amar Man Shakya and Shreejana Rana have been elected the first and second vice president respectively for the umbrella organization of Nepal’s hoteliers.
Similarly, Binayak Shah and Ghanendra Bahadur Shrestha have been elected the new general secretary and treasurer respectively. Members of the new executive committee are immediate past president Shyam Sundar Lal Kakshapati, MA Lari, Dinesh Bista, Prabin Bahadur Panday, Binod Shanker Shrestha, Dinesh Tuladhar, Vishal Kumar, Sunil Sakya, Abhishek Shrestha, Rakesh Das Shrestha, Ram Kumar Puri, Dorge Lama Gurung, Laxman Aryal, Biplab Poudel, Ghanashyam Shrestha and Rajan Shrestha.
Meanwhile, the AGM was inaugurated by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya. Inagurating the inaugural session of the AGM, Minister Acharya said that the tourism is the back-bone of Nepali economy and the sector holds higher potential to create employment and to increase foreign exchange earnings.
Addressing the inaugural session, Industry Minister, Karna Bahadur Thapa stressed that the hotel sector should be treated as industries from government. He argued that the concerned government agencies and tourism entrepreneurs should foster the sector to ensure further potentials.
Delivering his keynote speech on ‘Tourism as a National Priority Industry’ Chief Secretary Lila Mani Poudel stressed on the need of initiatives to be taken from the government in a bid to promote the tourism industry.
Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Sushil Ghimire extended his best wishes for the success of HAN and highlighted the role of tourism in general and hotel industry in particular in the development of national economy.
From the chair outgoing President Shyam S.L. Kakshapati thanked all concerned for their support in realizing the vision and mission of HAN. He pledged his commitment to make HAN a dynamic organization.
B.K. Shrestha, President elect had delivered vote of thanks on the occasion. During the business session the house unanimously passed the President's, Secretary General's & Treasurer's report and HAN's balance sheet for 2069/070. Large number of HAN members and distinguished guests have attended the ceremony and HAN hosted a grand party in honor of the distinguished guests.
