HAN Welcomes Budget
Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) praised the government’s plan in the Budget for 2071/072 for the development of tourism infrastructure. Besides upgrading Tribhuvan International Airport, the government has also allocated resources for improving airports in Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Janakpur, Bhadrapur and Surkhet. It has also prioritised the development of the proposed second international airport in Nijgadh, Bara.
HAN has also appreciated the government’s announcement to promote the East-West high-hill rural tourism route "the Great Himalayan Trail". HAN also hailed the plan to provide income tax rebate to hotels with over Rs 2 billion investment. HAN, however, criticised the budget for failing to promote small hotels which are vital for tourism promotion and stressed for the timely execution of the plan and programs announced in the Budget. HAN has expressed its optimism that with modification in the existing rule, casinos will be reopened soon.
President B. K. Shrestha inaugurated 2nd Annual General Meeting of Regional Hotel Association Dolakha in Charikot on June 14, 2014. Admiring the hospitality and natural beauty of the region, he pointed out the possibility of investment in tourism sector in general and hotel sector in particular. Constitution Assembly Member Pashupati Chaulagain and leaders of various political parties, Chapter President, Chief District Officer appreciated Hotel Association Nepal for conducting its Executive Committee Meeting first time ever in Dolakha. Earlier HAN ECM was held in Charikot. The ECM deliberated and passed the agenda presented.
