HAN President Mr Binayak Shah has emphasized the need for effective implementation of the policies, regulations, laws, and budgetary programs announced by the government for the hotel and tourism sectors.
As a panelist at the Hotelier Summit held at Soaltee Hotel, President Mr Shah stated that although the hotel sector has been recognized as an industry, the facilities and incentives that other industries are entitled to have not yet been fully realized in practice in the hospitality industry.
He pointed ou that the prolonged government procedures and policy delays have extended the construction period of hotel projects, resulting in project costs increasing many times more.
He also asked the government to focus on implementing previously announced policies and programs rather than introducing new ones.
He mentioned that the effective implementation would help strengthen investor confidence and improve the overall business environment. He also stressed the need to immediately finalize and implement clear plans and programs for the “Nepal Wellness Year 2027.”
He further painted the bitter reality in his remarks "Although investment and service capacity in Nepal’s hotel sector have increased, tourist demand remains relatively weak".
He emphasized that tourism development should prioritize air and physical connectivity, effective operation of international airports, expansion of tourism markets, and promotion of domestic industries.
He urged the government to move beyond policy announcements and ensure that its policies and programs are implemented effectively.
